What in the heck is the Happier Trails Award?
It's a reaction to the usual awards handed out to hikers for hikes described as the longest, hardest, fastest or other words ending with "-est".
It's time for an award that simply recognizes good people doing good things for, and on, the trails we all love.
You can nominate your trail buddy for the Hiking For Her Happier Trails Award in one easy step.
If you can't find the answer to your question on this page, contact me.
Any hiker who makes the trail happier for you, a hiking or community group, or who has had a positive impact on hiking trails is eligible for this award.
Remember, we're not going for "-est".
We're going for the quiet folks who take action(s) to make trail time better for other hikers.
So be sure to describe how this person, and happier trails, are directly related.
No, because it’s more fun to learn about you through the eyes of your hiking buddies.
And if you're doing great things for, and on, the trail, someone is bound to notice!
Building up and empowering the community of female hikers is a cornerstone of this website.
So let’s keep the award in the Hiking For Her family for now.
Hiking For Her will send the awardee an REI Co-op $50 US gift certificate if she wishes to receive it.
If the recipient wishes to join the Over Forty Hiker private community, she may do so free of charge.
She will also be featured in whatever way she chooses:
Or she can skip the spotlight altogether!
It's her choice.
You will be acknowledged as the person who noticed this wonderful hiker, and took action to bring her to our attention.
The world is a crazy place, but we can make it
more friendly and community focused by recognizing the good being
done by the everyday hikers among us.
If there are enough nominations, certainly!
This is just a fun way to recognize the wonderful hikers among us who look out for trails and other hikers in daily life, and my guess is there are plenty of them!
We hope to have a recipient for this award by the end of November 2018.
Check back for the announcement, and please nominate a trail buddy!
